Once it is out there and has taken on a definition of its own you can no longer prescribe – not clarify – its meaning.

In your own papers you may write what you want. Here I want to limit misinformation or confusion as much as is possible. An easy way to do that is to not allow fringe definitions of terms that are now in widespread use.

Since this discussion has been going on for years without my involvement, and it would now continue with my involvement, I think that might be a good idea. So yes, let’s do that: you may talk about nanobots in the bloodstream for example, but please don’t call a subset of them airborne wind energy.
