I think we should concentrate on developing the Kitewinder system, since this is one of the only systems where the cosine losses are zero at high altitude. Most of the other systems will not permit operation at tether angles of greater than 45° without causing unacceptable loss in efficiency. I also don’t understand why power is limited with wind velocities above 13 to 14 m/s. Can’t we design groundgen generators that can withstand these loads? As shown in the data below the average wind speed at 1000 M altitude varies from 15.7 to 17.0 m/s depending on whether measurements are taken over land or over the sea .
