Tethered-aligned vs crosswind kites in yo-yo mode

So as a first conclusion flexible crosswind kites are better for relatively low altitudes, but are competing with existing wind turbines, while tethered-aligned kites could harness really high altitude winds where there is no competition.

At high altitude, the wind speed is higher, leading to a higher rotation of the winch, leading to a less gear ratio, which is an advantage when harnessing high winds in yo-yo mode, in this case by using tether-aligned AWES.

Note for all the topic: “tether-aligned” is the correct expression, unlike “tethered-aligned” I used.
