As temporary opinion, I would think yoyo method goes better with a flexible kite as the lightness is required to avoid loss of pull by gravity. Moreover the efficiency can be reached by increasing the kite area within a small and compact swept area (Low radius loop).
According to
Page 1473, 7.1. Effect of flying mass: “On the contrary, increasing the flying mass in Fly-Gen systems does not affect the energy production even though it still reduces the tension of the cable.”
The high speed of the wing allow smaller generators aloft.
