I think this is a very good design, as it allows very high altitude operation while still having a sensible takeoff and landing plan.

Personally I prefer The Pyramid, as the rotary power transfer makes even less of the machinery airborne and what is airborne is this much simpler.

The two designs have a few similarities IMHO. Bladetips though is the only of these two that can attain very high altitude

I would also like to mention that using the turbine blade with an assistant forward thrust motor to generate lift like this will probably reduce the VTOL added weight. This way also they are avoiding the issue with turbine + propeller combined blades, which for eg. Makani designs would have the lift of the turbine blades facing in opposite direction depending onb VTOL or power production mode. For this design, the blades always lift away from the ground attachment point.

You could just use a match and light up a blade tip:
