Until that snap it made the right kinda whizzzz noise
Well done Kites For Future
It seems these folks are still making progress - they have a larger kite (3m?) and full launch/harvesting/landing cycle starting to work.
What I found really interesting is this is a low budget, open source project with published code and pcb/schematics for both ground station and autopilot. Here-s their github page Kites for Future · GitHub
And there are newer (4 months old) videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/@kitesforfuture577/videos
PS there-s also a browser-based simulator for various parameters and wind conditions https://www.kitesforfuture.de/simulation17/kite_simulation.html
They start out with “Fully autonomous kites harvest stronger winds for a fraction of the cost of wind turbines.”
So is this a proven scientific fact, or is it merely a wish? Could we accurately call it “a lie”? Is it a knowingly-made untrue statement at this time? It is stated in present-tense, meaning it is a current fact. So where is the evidence? Where is the kite producing electricity at a fraction of the cost of wind turbines? Where is there even a single such system in operation? By “fraction of the cost” are we talking about, say, 1/4 the cost? So if a wind turbine on a tower produces electricity at 4 cents / kWh, there is a kite system producing power and selling it at 1 cent / kWh? Is there any factual statement about AWE anywhere, or is it all wishes for the future, stated as present day facts? The pattern is quite disturbing for anyone truly interested in the subject.
