"Kitewinder is now working on a new product. An hydro generator for sailing."

I commented:

Beautiful design. Maybe it could also become a conversion system for an Airborne Wind Energy System (AWES, so a kite energy system), that you know very well, with Kiwee, the AWES marketed for the first (and last?) time.

@PierreB do you know if they are still marketing the small kite-lifted wind turbine? I could not find any reference on their website and also the shop does not seem to be operational anymore?

Hi Roland, I think Olivier Normand has shared on several other posts that they were stopping the Kiwee. The no market Hypothesis - #75 by Kitewinder

@rschmehl , indeed @batlabat just pointed out Kiwee’s production was stopped.
However @Kitewinder replied to my hypothesis:

The doors are not fully closed.

hi @rschmehl . the shop is closed at the moment because of a technical issue. As baptiste said, we have moved on to new activities/ product. we still have some units left at discount price if needed and as you can see I still keep track on what is going on on that forum

Can you give us more details about the technical issue?

It is the shop that has a technical issue, not the product. I guess I was not clear enough. And if you want to know, it is just an incompatibility issue of the woocommerce plugin and the PHP version of our web server

meanwhile, our hydrogenerator is maturing well. All stainless steel ! have a look

Love it
One question
On the underside, there’s a second vertical fin behind the main keel board… Is it a like a safe torque coupler just in case you hit something?

hello @Rodread , it is a dynamic fin that is linked to the motor to counteract the torque of the propeller. the motor is mounted on a inner shaft. when there is torque, it position itself pasively and force against the propeller torque, when there is not, it simply stay in the axis

Text of the video:

A short footage of our hydrogenerator Seawing for sailing. We perform test from 4 knots up to 12 knots to test the stability of our design and also record first power production. During that test, we reach 100 Watts at 5 knots and hit a maximum of 170 Watts around 7 knots.

That looks to be efficient.

At 1:12: “Le premier hydrogénérateur tracté, nageant à la traîne de votre voilier”.
Translation: “The first towed hydrogenerator, swimming behind your sailboat”.
This is actually what we see in the video.

An AWE version in the future, hydrogenerator + kitesurf?

Nice idea Pierre, I would add hydrogenerator + kitesurf + daggerboard/foil to go crosswind

The new version now has two propellers Seawing, hydrogénérateur pour la plaisance – Kitewinder
