Perhaps the inflatable torus of a Rotary ballute-based kite could allow for both better airflow (compared to a central spherical aerostat) while adding or maintaining aerostatic lift. Furthermore, torus-based rotary kites can be stacked for takeoff and landing.
In a similar way, an inner torus could be integrated into the outer torus, being inflated with hydrogen. The volume between the two tori is inflated with nitrogen.
