Santos' comments about moderation

I can confirm that he can be a very strong source of distress and dismay that anyone could continue to be so insistent and unreasonable, while saying pretty much nothing the whole time.

It is redeeming to me that he finally experience the censorship that he so often denied was imposed on others, such as me, in the little power-trip exploited by the two of them, and that the old supposed basic question of “Who is right, daveS or DougS?”, (as though we were somehow equal), has slowly settled out as obvious, due to my insistence on staying with the simple facts of AWE the whole time.

While I’m still subject to occasional ongoing unfair censorship on this new forum, literally for stating simple, known facts of wind energy, which almost no AWE people have any knowledge or experience in, at least by this point, most participants have learned enough to realize I actually do know what I’m talking about, whereas he does not, that one of us is reasonable and factual, while the other is unreasonable and most of what he says can safely be ignored.

I would say this, Pierre: You are doing the world of AWE a service by keeping us informed, in a pursuit of an art where the subject matter (wind energy) is invisible - both wind, electricity, and everything in between is invisible or otherwise difficult for beginners to understand, of letting this obscure world of AWE know how extreme dedicated crackpots in wind energy can be, promoting their own ignorance as “advanced” “knowledge” which is easily debunked by anyone who actually knows anything about wind energy, and which was unrecognized by many AWE wannabes for well over a decade due to their own ignorance of most salient factors in wind energy.

I would suggest two choices:

  1. Don’t read his emails - you have a choice, but there is a temptation to read what he says for the entertainment value of how stupid whatever he says might be - like you can’t make this stuff up, so there is some amusement value to it, which is a temptation only you can either succumb to, or ignore, and not open the emails - your choice. i did find, however, that he was SO unreasonable that it was disturbing to my own feeble brain, that it took up too much bandwidth and had me wasting too much mental energy trying to figure out how anyone could be so insistently ignorant and unreachable in their aggressive firehose of ignorance, disinformation, bragging of supposed future accomplishments and past failures presented as success, and false promises of future success. It is only the passage of time that has redeemed me vs him in the naive perpetual beginner minds of so many AWE wannabes, and I guess you could say I’m glad that I held my ground, but really, why? To prove I knew what i was talking about to an audience of mostly people who simply don’t have the slightest clue anyway?

I;ll give one example: As much as I think Jason is a great and welcome contributor to this forum, have learned some great things from him, and will always enjoy reading his posts, he still falls, so far anyway, into that typical (for wind energy) “perpetual newbie” category, for now anyway, and when he recently began promoting power by the weight of falling magnets inside a plastic tubular ring, I had to explain to him how to calculate the amount of energy available in the weight of a typical magnet falling at a speed that might be expected, and it not only confirmed his bad results thusfar but explained wny. I was happy to explain this because that is how we teach each other. he dod not come back with a bunch of argymentative bobsese like a Santos would, but instead took the info I provided and we have nbot heard back from him since on thaat tiopic. I remain eager to interxt with him again, because he is a reasonable and interesting person with tantalizing ideas and a good attitude.

  1. I’m pretty sure almost every email system has a way to simply “block sender" by a click of a mouse, as I have in Gmail. However, you are doing us a service by keeping the world of AWE and wannabe wind energy in general of the dangers and emotional stress extreme wind energy crackpots are capable of causing. I think of goofy wind energy ideas, and there are SO MANY, are great entertainment, and fun to debunk, but in that one case, the nonsense is so overwhelming the mental distress outweighs the entertainment value.

Beyond that, I hesitate to even discuss this topic further, as one has to limit the mental and emotional damage that can occur when the human brain becomes twisted like a pretzel trying to even comprehend how dishonest and unreasonable someone can be in promoting their own ignorance, as some authority on a topic in which they purport to be a master, yet with zero success in any form, ever, and nothing but a track record of nothingness to claim as their result after well over a decade-and-a-half of harassment of a subtle art that requires actual knowledge to master.

So I would thank you, Pierre, for suffering for the benefit of the rest of us. I, for one, am grateful for your sacrifice, and thank you for keeping us up to date on the most extreme level of wind energy crackpottedness ever encountered in wind energy, anywhere, anytime! Thank You!!!

Hi Doug,
Your analysis is relevant.

That’s what I do most of the time, except when – very rarely – someone other than John responds cordially to him, just after he has spewed his venom once again; which demonstrates that his harassment still works. And even if I don’t read his spam, others, at least potentially, read it since he sends his emails in bulk. His slanderous remarks about everyone are accessible to everyone.

When this forum recently went down, I at least had the satisfaction of finding almost no spam in my folder, and I probably wasn’t the only one. But as soon as the forum was accessible again, the spam returned, always from the same sender acting like a remora, sucking up comments, including mine.

Conclusion: when the forum is down, the spam disappears too. We can deduce that this would also be the case if the forum itself were made invisible to you-know-who.

I don’t disagree with the suggestion. It depends on your perspective or what you weigh more heavily whether you think it’s harsh or not. This forum apparently is his drug of choice, and visiting here harms himself, others, and the field. Any other more productive pursuit would likely be healthier.

That is exactly it. So, it would be a detox for everyone, including himself, who would thus be spared from the forum he dislikes.

The first thing that hit me about AWE was the surprising fact of nobody involved had even any interest, let alone experience, in wind energy. “Hmmmm” I thought, “this is really weird!” Yet, with the then-recent Popular Science Invention of the Year for an AWE demo, I felt obligated to bring it to the first HAWP Conference in which U-no-hu was a main participant, and maybe organizer(?), along with joe. The presence of the very nice and personable Cristina Archer was one sign of the silliness and desperation for any sort of validation of the general confusion with its pretense of expertise since I had attended many wind energy conferences but never seen a weather expert needed to explain to a bunch of dummies that there is in fact wind.

Anyway, as the one person who knew pretty much anything about wind energy to have a toehold in AWE, I once again felt it my obligation to provide facts for the unwashed perpetual newbies involved, but quickly realized it was a thankless job, as facts were not appreciated in the fantasy-world of typical wind energy know-nothings now taking to the skies, in their minds at least.

After so many years of it, I now see this whole idea of over a thousand people pretending to be experts in a domain they scarcely even comprehend. as a sort pf mental disorder, with “a spectrum”, starting with the most extreme crackpots at one end, and mere naive students, interns, and employees at the other end.

I had explained to U-no-hu that, in my opinion, he was "a poster-child of the Professor Crackpot syndrome”, and I still believe he has the world record for technological silliness and in the AWE field. So at least he has a purpose in illustrating that extreme end of the professor crackpot disorder spectrum.

Beyond that, I’d surmise that if there were anything ever actually going on in the field of AWE, we would be totally ignoring the whole idea of U-no-hu, since we would be busy discussing how great AWE was wprking!

I will say, one thing I did learn from the two main pranksters running in the old forum was the technique of lying by redefining words. I now recognize the same thing in politics and so many other fields, and it seems to work very well without people even realizing it. So at least I learned how to identify lying in a new way.

Hi @dougselsam ,

@Windy_Skies was right to just delete our respective comments. It’s only fair that if Dave Santos doesn’t have access to the forum, we don’t mention him in our posts.

It’s all just a swirling cesspool in full flush mode, swirling donw the drain. When you see a homeless person walking along talking to imaginary voices they hear in their heads, everyone knows they are looking at a very sad, almost hopeless situation. They look at begging for money from strangers, in return for either nothing, or maybe washing a windshield with a dirty rag as a legitimate pursuit. At some point, groups of such homeless people get together, where, surrounded by their own kind, they can pretend there is some normalcy to their nonproductive lifestyle.

In the world of energy, people developing wind energy ideas that are proven to not work well are also seen as responding to illusory “voices” that insist that some vertical-axis turbine is a better answer than an actual productive turbine, and “beg” for “spare change” to develop or sell “turbines’“ that will never deliver their promised power, if any, nor probably even survive the first storm. This is The La Brea Tar Pits of qind energy - nothing but dead bodies and bones.

Now, the idea that these unproductive, delusional people gather in groups with some trying to shut up others, is irrelevant to anyone’s life, unless they choose to hang out with these confused homeless wanderers. So whether it’s “U-no-hu”, or “Anonymous Person” trying to out-censor one another, it’s all the same thing: people with nothing to offer the world, squabbling about who should just shut up or be forcefully silenced. none of them are in touch with reality in the first place and can safely be ignored in the larger view of everyday life, but if we wish, we can jump in, trying to “help” and find ourselves being sucked down the same toilet bowl of delusional, mistargeted hopelessness.
