Advanced Kite Networks

Hi Doug,

It is not difficult to defend this AWE project which is no more criticizable than another. To begin with, the commercial results are identical to those of other AWE projects towards electricity generation, and without requiring public or private funds.

That said I prefer AWES farm in bumper car mode to networks which seem difficult to implement.

Moreover my experiments have tended to downplay the advantages of the crosswind kite. But its overestimation is not unique to the project mentioned in this topic, far from it.

And this project at least has the merit of implementing techniques from the kite itself.

The author could indeed be back soon, and try to promote this project, in a field that is stagnating.

Hi Pierre: The author has found a way to get an email to me, claiming everything I said about his and John’s promises of future success were merely lies. As usual, lyong about lying - what else would we expect?

Wind energy crackpots have always been the same: The worst of them don’t generate any power whatsoever, but instead ask for accolades when they get something to wiggle, or less often, to actually rotate. The worst of the kite power people spend their decades trying to even just get their contraptions to fly at all. Forget generating any power - not even on their radar screen.

he more extreme crackpots cannot even be bothered to include a generator, let alone connect to, and spin one, let alone generate even any promising, let alone any useful, amount of electricity. Their output is a null set. This has always been the case.

Deep down, they know their devices will make no power, so avoiding any evidence of this, like attaching a generator, is key to their continued promotional story.

The Professor Crackpot condition has typical symptoms, just like any malady. And like other maladies, it’s sad to see. Tsk, tsk, tsk, it just makes you want to shake your head…

Except in wind energy, it also serves as a form of entertainment! An inside joke that only the privileged few can really fully understand! No, the average person does not know much about wind energy. And that’s nice for those of us who do! As for the rest, it’s off to the La Brea Tar Pits!
