Peter Allen Sharp is not only the inventor of the Sharp rotor, but also of a family of concepts. According to the inventor, both Cyclo-Kite and Bird Windmill sweep a large area of wind relative to the size of the blade, thus generating a lot of power relatively to its small size before scaling, and could work in yo-yo mode by using a pilot kite or a Sharp rotor.
Sharp Cyclo-Kite (11)
2’ span; 5" chord; 0.16 kg; 4mm Coroplast; TSR = 2; hold poles steady, TSR jumps to over 3; tight circles, high centrifugal force, high power; estimated orbit diameter = 6 feet.
Bird Windmill, slow motion of blade pitching
1/8 speed slow motion of Bird blade
Sharp Cycloturbine F1
Paper V-blades, wire support arms, TSR = 1.34, fan on low.
