Very interesting and unexpected. I will have to correct AWES farm in bumper car mode by adding these rigid wings.
Perhaps regular wind turbine carried by lifter kites or Magnus-effect based balloons could also benefit from a Collision-Resilient construction, in order to survive in the event of a significant shock when the lifer kite or Magnus balloon fails. The protective structure might be placed around the hub or halfway up the blade, somewhat like in the video below:
