I tried looking up KGM1 which led to the following website:
KGM1 - About | F6S
I was excited to see what they are up to, remembering a favorable impression of it in the past.
I clicked on a video there, and found myself having to log in using facebook, etc. to even get any content.
OK they emailed me a 6-digit code to continue.
Saw a video of a prototype - not very convincing at all.
I’m thinking “Really? That’s it?” Looks like an infomercial rowing machine for exercise.
The final word from the website, at the bottom of the page was from over 4 years ago:

KGM1 is a world-class pioneer of Airborne Wind Energy. Founder, Marco Ghivarello, is both a champion-aviator and brilliant engineer. KGM1 has turned the modern power-kite into a mighty engine.
Need I say more at that point???
Maybe KGM1 could give back an “Efficient Solution” award to “Solar Impulse”. You know, like “one hand washes the other”? A “mutual admiration society”?
Efficient Solution? Really? On what basis? What is “efficient”? How is this a proven “solution”? This whole field is, in my opinion, just out of control. Land of the lost. All handwaving and happy-talk, and no action. Having gained a few awards myself in the early days, I can honestly say they make no difference, any more than having one more inaccurately-favorable article written by one more know-nothing " journalist" who can’t possibly understand the nuances of what they are writing.
What matters is, as usual, do you have a reliable and economical energy system of any kind, that is useful for any purpose?
A self-proclaimed “domain expert”, with no solutions himself, favored it over 4 years ago - how has it developed since then?
